Agentic commerce
Agentic commerce for buyers who are people and AI agents.
EPD Commerce is built to sell to and accept payments from both. Make your products easier for AI to find, let agents check out through supported protocols, and connect your own AI tools to run the business.
The essentials
What Is Agentic Commerce?
Agentic commerce is shopping in which an AI agent acts on a person’s behalf to find products, compare options, and carry out purchasing steps within the authority that person grants. Instead of doing every step across separate websites, a shopper can describe what they need and let an agent help move the purchase forward.
For example, a shopper might ask for a carry-on bag within a budget. An agent can compare suitable products, check the details, and help complete a purchase through a supported checkout experience. How much it can do—and when it asks for approval—depends on the service and the shopper’s permissions.
That is different from a chatbot that only recommends a product or links to a store. Agentic commerce connects the conversation to actions. Merchants need understandable product information, a way for agents to interact with their business, and payment flows that respect the buyer’s authorization.
Why it matters for merchants
Your next customer may reach your business through an agent rather than a browser. EPD Commerce brings in your existing products, adds context for AI discovery, and is being built to handle evolving commerce protocols—while you continue selling to people through your pages and cart.

Three parts of agentic commerce
Product discovery, agent purchases, and AI-powered operations.
Being found, being purchased by an agent, and operating your store with AI tools each work differently. EPD handles them as separate layers on one platform.
-
Discoverability
Make your products discoverable
EPD Commerce automatically imports the products from your connected shopping cart. We add a contextual layer and enrich the catalog with fields that help AI search engines understand what you sell and match products to what buyers are looking for.
- Bring in your existing products automatically
- Add context and AI-readable product fields
- Create AI-optimized landing pages in one click
-
Agent shopping and payment
Accept agent purchases
Your business should not have to keep up with every new commerce protocol. We are building EPD Commerce to support protocols as they roll out, giving agents a way to understand your offers, check out, and pay—without tying your business to one AI ecosystem.
- Built for evolving commerce protocols
- One platform instead of separate protocol projects
- Designed to keep your business ready for what comes next
-
Merchant operations
Run the business
Connect the AI tools your team already uses through MCP. An agent can create subscriptions and perform actions in EPD Commerce, limited to the permissions you grant.
- Connect through the EPD MCP server
- Create subscriptions and take action
- Scoped by the permissions you grant
Two kinds of buyer
Different path in. Same business underneath.
Whoever starts the purchase, the sale lands in the same core platform.
A person
Buys on your existing website or shopping cart, an EPD landing page, a branded checkout, or a payment link. EPD processes the payment—you do not have to replace your website.
An AI agent
Acts for a shopper to understand an offer and complete an authorized purchase. We are building for agents buying from merchant websites and for agents buying directly from merchant agents.
EPD Commerce core
- Products and offers
- One catalog, subscription offers, and branded payment links.
- Payments
- Credit card processing and payment routing across your connected selling channels.
- Subscriptions
- Renewals and subscription records, wherever the sale started.
- Reporting
- Sales and subscription performance, plus plain-language questions about your data.
- Recovery
- Configurable retries and notifications for failed payments.
From request to purchase
Agents buying from websites. And from other agents.
An agent can help a buyer find a product and complete an authorized purchase from a merchant’s website. EPD Commerce is also being built for agent-to-agent commerce: a buyer’s agent working directly with a merchant’s agent to complete the purchase.
You keep your website. EPD handles payment processing. Your existing cart, EPD landing pages, branded checkouts, and payment links are different ways to sell—not a requirement to move your business.
Illustrative shopping journey. Agent-to-agent purchasing is a planned capability; actions remain subject to the buyer’s authorization.
How the connections differ
Shopping protocols, MCP, and the API do different things.
All three involve software talking to EPD Commerce. Who is on the other end, and why, is what separates them.
- Shopping protocols
- Commerce protocols give agents a shared way to understand offers and transact. EPD Commerce is being built to adapt across this evolving ecosystem, not just one or two standards.
- MCP
- The Model Context Protocol connects AI assistants your team uses to EPD Commerce, so they can look things up and take actions you have permitted.
- MCP docs
- API
- Endpoints and webhooks for custom applications and integrations that respond to commerce events.
- API docs
Built for agentic commerce—not just one protocol. We are building EPD Commerce to support the protocols that emerge, so business owners can focus on selling instead of tracking changing standards. ACP and UCP are examples of that ecosystem, not its boundaries.
- Keep your website and cart
- EPD processes payments on your existing website through your connected checkout or cart, including GoHighLevel and WooCommerce. You do not need to rebuild your website or move buyers to an EPD page.
- Work directly in the platform
- Manage products, landing pages, subscriptions, and recovery without code.
FAQ
Agentic commerce questions.
What is agentic commerce?
Agentic commerce is buying and selling where an AI agent does some of the work: finding a product, comparing offers, or completing checkout on behalf of a person. EPD Commerce is built to sell to and accept payments from both people and AI agents.
How does EPD Commerce keep up with new commerce protocols?
We are building EPD Commerce to support commerce protocols as they roll out, so merchants do not have to manage each new standard as a separate project. ACP and UCP are examples within a growing ecosystem—not the limit of our approach. The goal is to keep your business ready as agent-driven commerce evolves.
How does EPD Commerce help my products get discovered by AI?
EPD Commerce automatically imports products from your connected shopping cart, adds a contextual layer, and enriches them with AI-readable product fields. This helps AI search systems understand your catalog and match products to buyer needs. You can also create AI-optimized landing pages in one click.
Will my products automatically appear in every AI assistant?
No. Protocol support and structured data make your products easier for AI systems to understand and transact with, but each assistant decides what it shows. Supporting a protocol does not guarantee placement, ranking, or endorsement.
How is MCP different from ACP and UCP?
ACP and UCP are shopping protocols for a buyer’s AI agent to check out and pay. MCP connects your own AI tools to EPD Commerce so they can create subscriptions and perform actions with the permissions you grant. The API is for developers building custom integrations.
What do the one-click landing pages do?
They turn your products into AI-optimized landing pages with structured data that helps AI search engines understand and discover your products. People can buy from the same pages.
Do I need to replace my website or shopping cart?
No. EPD handles payment processing through your connected website or shopping cart, including GoHighLevel and WooCommerce. EPD landing-page checkouts, branded checkouts, and payment links are additional options, not requirements.
Will EPD support agents buying from other agents?
Yes. We are building EPD Commerce for agent-to-agent purchases as well as agents buying from merchant websites. A buyer’s agent will be able to work directly with a merchant’s agent to complete a purchase within the permissions granted. Agent-to-agent commerce is a planned capability.
Do agent orders get the same subscriptions, reporting, and recovery?
Products, payments, subscriptions, reporting, and recovery are part of the core platform, so they apply to your business whether a sale starts with a person or an agent.
